“Dr Bike” is a free bike repair and maintenance service run by the Broken Spoke Bike Co-op.
On what proved to be a sweltering Bank Holiday Sunday afternoon, the Dr Bike mechanic set up his bike stand in the car park outside Cutteslowe community centre. He and three more bike mechanic volunteers diagnosed, safety checked, tuned up and where necessary repaired 20 bikes belonging to locals, including adults and kids. Some 13 new brake pad pairs and two cables were fitted, while four kids’ bikes just needed adjustment.
Our thanks go both to Dr Bike and to our own volunteers who worked tirelessly to assess, check, tune up and repair so many bikes, making us all just a bit safer!
